Giving Local – Do you know what’s going on in your neighbourhood?

It’s our business to know what’s going on in our neighbourhood of Sydney’s inner suburbs. We know how privileged and blessed we are to be able to afford and live in our own homes in this fabulous city. Yet despite living amongst some of the world’s most expensive real estate, if we take the time to look around, we will see that many people in our community are doing it tough.

No doubt you have seen homeless people in Hyde Park and the like, but this is the tip of the iceberg. According to Swags for Homeless, on any given night up to 80% of families and 60% of individuals will be turned away from emergency shelters meaning that over 40,000 people will sleep on the streets this year. And many of them will be in our own backyard (not literally, but you know what I mean).

It may surprise you to hear that many kids living within Sydney’s inner suburbs go to school without breakfast. This has a negative impact on their learning and ultimately on their future prospects.

According to Foodbank (www.foodbanknsw.org.au), 516,000 Aussies rely on food relief every month and 35% of these are children.Good Deeds Property Buyers.Giving Local.#facebook2

Good Deeds Property Buyers have decided to open our eyes and hearts to our neighbours in need and from January 2015 will be making contributions to two organizations who provide practical assistance to hungry children and homeless people.

With every new search project to find a home or investment property for our clients we will invest in the future of our children by providing 250 school breakfasts through Foodbank (www.foodbanknsw.org.au).

And every time we purchase a property for our clients we will provide shelter to a homeless person with a Backpack Bed through Swags For Homeless.

We are doing something to help. This is our community.
